Dragon used legendary action Wing Attack, but Kaine saved (just barely).

Round 2

Top of round: dragon suffers 14 fire damage, 18 cold damage, and 17 necrotic damage, resisting none, suffering 49 damage.

Kaine attacks (14+6=20), inflicts 36 slashing, plus 13 fire from Blood Boil. Dragon takes 49 damage. He attacks again (5+14=19), inflicting 44 slashing, plus 18 fire from Blood Boil. Dragon takes 62 damage. He then uses Ascendant Step to rise 20 ft off the ground.

Dragon can't reach Kaine, so he uses Lightning Breath. Kaine gets a nat 1 on the save, and is about to suffer 66 lightning damage, but he invokes the Guardian Angel pendant to gain Sanctuary for 1 round. He is immune to damage and cannot attack.

Round 3

Top of round: dragon suffers 18 fire damage, 15 cold damage, and 15 necrotic damage, for a total of 48. It has 1 HP left.

Init: 18 vs 17, Kaine wins.

"How do you wanna do this?" he asks, with a cocksure smirk. He charges, using Great Slam, just to give the dragon a fighting chance. In an opportunity attack, dragon attacks with Bite (nat 20), inflicting 28 piercing + 5 lightning, total 33, Kaine suffers 23 due to armor. "You'll find I don't go down easy. Might need a spoonful of sugar." He attacks with Great Slam (2+14=16), missing. "That's awkward. I swear, this never happens," he says sheepishly. Bonus attack (nat 1). "Okay, seriously, wtf."

To maximize his advantage, dragon first uses a legendary action after Kaine's turn, attacking with his wings (Kaine fails, takes 14 (9) dmg and knocked prone). He fails to recharge lightning breath, so he goes for a full attack (claw, claw, bite), hitting with both claws and his bite, for 18+5+14+14-5-5-5, aka 46.

"Impressive," Kaine quips, as a few drops of blood drip from his mouth. "But it looks like you brought five swords to a god fight."

Round 4

The confused dragon suffers 59 damage from the ongoing diseases and dies, wondering what the hell Kaine was going on about.

"Shlorp," Kaine quips, before beginning the grisly business of harvesting the dragon's parts for magical components.
