Session One
In the aftermath of the recovery of at least part of the treasure of the pirate captain Cellis Mott, the crew of the Argo returned to their home base aboard the Harbinger Class dreadnaught Revenant. After the usual tension filled standoff with the strange Sith vessel, the crew was able to download and interface with some of the hyperspace charts found in Mott's treasure cache to the Revenant's astrogation charts. The crew discovered a number of abortive attempts to breach the area of space known as the Shroud of the Sith. Also, while on the bridge, Eris was able to get the Revenant to translate a Sith inscription placed above the bridge master control, identified as the Code of the Sith.
After a brief planning session, the command staff, along with the input of Chief Engineer Hargel Bishan, decided to lay in for the free-port of Janodral Mizar, there to offload cargo, split crew shares, engage in some shore-leave, gain parts and refit for both the Argo and, a possible lead on a dark space motivator for the Revenant. Their contact on the planet was Niko Vance, a one-time smuggler turned top-line chop-shop owner. Before setting out, Pandora canvased the DarkNet, discovering at least one potential lead for buyers of Sith artifacts, a highly restricted art commodity whose smuggling is an Imperial offense.
Once inbound to Janodral Mizar, the crew of the Argo decided to approach Niko's Space Barn indirectly, fearing retribution for their relatively recent mutiny aboard the Argo that deposed the one time associate of Niko, Harl "Shrike" Keto. Instead of docking directly, they instead made planet-fall at the mega-hotel/casino The Scarlet Woman, there, Lazar Cortess, Eris Darkhope, Zhaanah Zot'oh, Johner Varad, and Pandora (through her prototype proxy droid Proxima) played the part of the old crew of the Argo. While there, the command crew arranged the purchase of a used Starlines BX-30 short haul speeder truck, while Pandora engaged in breaking the tight security on one of the house's holo-slot machines. They also parted ways with Marka Durn's droid, delivering to him their promised 20% cut of the treasure of Cellis Mott and a promise of further contact in the future.
After arranging the delivery of their new speeder truck, the crew headed down to meet with Niko Vance, who they discovered in a well-defended compound in the lower levels of Janodral City. Vance had no love lost for the deceased Captain Keto, and soon offered the crew the standard service rates provided by his shop along with docking for the Argo. He also passed along a job offer that could lead the crew to acquiring a rare and ancient dark space motivator for the Revenant, a job working for the Hutt Prello Anjiliac Priara, owner and operator of the Obsidian Storm nightclub.
A meeting with the currently female Hutt gangster ensued the next day, where the party was offered the job of tracking down a Balosar thief in her employ, Barin Trevina, who was tasked with finding and acquiring a piece of artwork, a seven pointed necklace called The Fell Star, and who had subsequently gone missing. With the offer of the purchase of a dark space motivator on the table, the command crew accepted the job of finding the wayward thief, and headed down into The Clutch to a seedy apartment shared by Barin and his cousin, Olev Trevina.
Once in the slums of Janodral City, the team discovered that Olev was in the process of being turned over for information by a pair of professional enforcer who, upon being overwhelmed by the party, appeared to simply die of no discernible cause. As the command crew fled the scene with the injured Olev and the corpses of the two enforcers just ahead of the emergency response crews, they are left to wonder how deep this favor for a Hutt might take them...
Session Two
In flight after the battle in the slums of Janodral City, the command crew of the Argo soon rendezvoused back with the ship where they were able to patch up their unconscious Balosar and further examine the corpses of his two assailants. Their examination of the bodies revealed high traces of synox, a colorless, odorless poison derived from certain plants native to Colamas III in the Tion Sector. The poison appeared to have been delivered via a micro vial attached to an odd, miniature amber crystal implanted in the brains of the subjects.
The interrogation of Olev Trevina revealed that he had in fact been in contact with his neer-do-well cousin, and he had agreed to conceal a security code cylinder inside his prosthetic antenna. All he could reveal was that the code cylinder opened a lock box inside Kie's Storage, a warehouse facility in the industrial underlevels of Janodral City. Mollified by payment (7,000 credits worth), the pirate crew released Olev to make his way with a false identi-chip back to the Balosar system.
Intrigued, the command crew set out in the speeder truck for Kie's Storage, where not only did they uncover a hidden datapad, but an ambush in waiting. Three more of the plainclothes assassins attacked the warehouse in force, but were turned back by the overwhelming firepower of LG-0N. The party turned the tables on the ambush party, seizing control of their luxury speeder car. More prepared this time for the wave of otherworldly Force energy that seemed to descend upon the assassins to prevent their capture, Eris was able to intercede her protection, at great cost to herself and her mind. Temporarily incapacitated, she was bundled into the lux-car as they sped off to prevent being caught up in a security dragnet, little knowing their enemy had already programmed the car to take them in a trajectory into the raging seas of Janodral-Mizar. Saved at the last minute by the grappling hooks of the Argo, they found themselves with two more clues to the growing mystery.
On the datapad in the lockbox, they discovered a message from Barin Trevina to one "Cel N'ero" and a coordinate trajectory for something called only Nadir. The one of the two would-be assassins who survived also had an interesting story to tell. He identified himself as Carig Bressar, a former soldier of fortune in service to the Confederacy turned killer for hire. He and his partner Pirin Nak took a simple enforcer job with a Tionese outfit that calls itself the Sable Dawn. Some sort of well-funded underground paramilitary organization. Not realizing that they were going to have kill-switches implanted in their heads, they soon found themselves bound to serve this hidden league without much in the way of alternative. Their only contact was through a Mister Besh, an obvious pseudonym. He was more than thrilled that the crew of the Argo had successfully removed the poison pill from his head.
Feeling as if they didn't know everything, and after an expert slicing session uncovered that Kie's Warehouse was a front owned through several shell companies leading to Alamanni Holdings, one of the many investment corporations belonging to Popara Anjiliac Deresto, head of the Anjiliac Kajidic, the crew decided to pay a second, less friendly visit to the nightclub of Prello the Hutt. Confronting her with some of their uncovered information, they were able to discover that Cel N'ero was the name of a female companion of Barin Trevina, one that her own people had been keeping tabs on for some time in the hope the Barin would contact her. The party assured her that they would be able to use N'ero to get to Barin, and so she informed them of her current location at the Woodoo Waves Cantina.
Prepared this time, and on the offensive, the party set an elaborate trap for the female Twi'lek thief, staging a bar fight and herding her into stealing the speeder truck, which she flew expertly for some time despite being pursued by Lazar and Eris on speeder bikes, Deran Nadarii in his Aethersprite, and even the Argo. Eventually, a mistake was made, leading to a harrowing confrontation with a massive glitched IW-SD-0 dock service droid and the near total destruction of an automated crane docking pylon in the industrial sector. Despite the unforeseen carnage, the crew of the Argo escaped relatively unscathed with a battered but living Cel N'ero, and hopefully more answers...
Session Three
After the battle at the loading dock, the Argo took refuge in one of the dozens of super-storms that continually lash the surface of Janodral Mizar while they contemplated their next move, which involved interrogating their new lead, the Twi'lek Cel N'ero.
The command crew was able to learn a few things from the pickpocket. She was apparently the lover of the Balosar Barin Trevina, an uncommonly good con woman, and an accomplished amateur treasure hunter. She also revealed that Barin had booked passage off world with Captain Phellip, on an YT-1300 light freighter called the Mad Line. Finally, when the captain mentioned their next destination as being an object called "Nadir", she was able to reveal the pirate legend of Salovan Fische, a 200 year dead Corellian pirate captain and his mobile comet base called Point Nadir, an place thought lost to legend but which Barin thought was the probable resting place of the Fell Star after it was plundered by Fische's ship, the Wicked Luck, from a Tionese pleasure yacht owned by House Solis over 200 years ago.
After discovering that the corrupt Janodral government had begun to fabricate a story about a terrorist attack to explain the battle on the loading dock, and that the Argo was in danger of being implicated in the propaganda campaign against the native Mizaran resistance, the pirate crew was able to successfully flee the planet just under the closing net of the Indrexu Sector's battle fleet. In the process, Captain Cortess was able to plant a false trail which would, if followed to it's conclusion, possible lead Moff Vorig Tot to believe he was being subtly attacked by his neighboring governor, Moff Lirgan Hoth of the Thanium Sector.
The crew then spent several days recovering from their encounters on Janodral while docked with the Revenant in interstellar space, where they discovered that their erstwhile prisoner, Cel N'ero, was capable of speaking, at least somewhat, in the language of the dead Sith Empire.
Finally ready to discover the truth of this Point Nadir, the crew of the Argo soon discovered that the massive comet was not a lifeless ball of ice after all, but a well concealed shadowport operated by the Anjiliac kajidic and administered by one of their own, a Hutt named Zietta Anjiliac Kokara. Point Nadir was a nexus of criminals, pirates, and mercenaries of all kinds, and a wretched hive of scum and villiany. The crew decided to be appropriately cautious.
Docking in the massive internal cavern of the comet, the command crew and their new contractor N'ero made their way to the pirate haven. After discovering that the Mad Line was under the protection of a local syndicate called Epsis, they had the ship tagged and decided to wait and see if anyone entered or left. After Cel volunteered that Barin may be going under an assumed name, Pandora did a credit search of the Port's DarkNet, discovering that one of his assumed names had in fact been accessed for credits.
Finding out that Barin had paid for information from the Toydarian broker, Fetwin Porlo, the crew purchased some information of their own. From the very well-informed secret trader, they discovered that Barin has been in the custody of the Sable Dawn for days now, held at a secret safe house apartment block called Evan Court, in the Arcade of Point Nadir. He was interested in finding out more about an area of the comet known as Salovan's Grave, a labyrinthine part of the mines that plunge into the metal core of the comet rumored to be the final resting place of the old pirate captain, and his treasure. It is also a dangerous, unstable part of the comet where technology seems to fail and many would be treasure hunters have gone missing, and all who have returned have returned empty handed.
Fearing that the Sable Dawn was drawing the crew out into a trap, their suspicions were confirmed when they were confronted and attacked by a powerful agent of the Sable Dawn, a deadly assassin trained in the Force and Echani fighting techniques. Barely able to drive off his assault, the party fled the wounded command staff retreated to the relative safety of the docked Argo to plan their next move.
Session Four
In the aftermath of the attack on the landing pad, the crew of the Argo was given little time to rest. The explosions in the slip had raised tensions in the pirate spaceport, and the Argo was bombarded by inquiries, both polite and hostile. Cutting through the din, and hacking into the private frequency used by Lazar's implants, was the voice of a Duros named Puzell, representing the powerful third faction in control of the shadowport, the technological criminal cartel known as Epsis. Revealing that Epsis had been tracking the progress of the crew for some time in their struggles against the Sable Dawn, Puzell offered them the timely assistance of Epsis in exchange for assisting in the final eradication of the Sable Dawn holdings in Point Nadir. Left with little recourse, given that it appeared both Barin Trevina and the forces of Zietta the Hutt were aligned with the Sable Dawn, the crew accepted the assistance of Epsis, who only asked that they push on towards their objective of the Fell Star in order to remove the final piece of interest in Point Nadir that might be retained by the assassins' guild.
Epsis was able to facilitate the complete shut down of main power to the shadowport, providing distraction enough for the crew of the Argo to launch an all out assault on the played out mines within the comet, the known final resting place of the Fell Star. Fighting their way through everything from crazed droids to mynocks, they eventually discovered the secret of the Fell Star and the grave of Salovan Fische, the Corellian pirate founder of Point Nadir. The Fell Star had been conveyed to the comet by the crash landing of an ancient Sith Meditation Sphere, and the Force sensitive Corellian pirate had used the artifact to grant him the uncanny luck that he was renowned for. Overcoming a particularly deadly variant of silicon spider crouched upon the crashing Sith vessel, they breached the hull of the sphere, just in time for the walls of the cavern to collapse under the steady and pounding assault of the main guns of the Revenant, which was piloted under its own steam and facing off against the assembled might of the Zietta Cartel's pirate fleet.
A tense standoff with the pirate fleet was defused and the Argo was able to successfully tow the Revenant and the now docked Sith sphere into hyperspace and relative safety.
Session Five
Brooding in deep space, the crew of the Argo was faced with the daunting task of tying up the remaining loose ends of the quest for the Fell Star. First, was the attempt to discern the nature of the artifact now in their possession.
Eris, working with Pandora, Cel, and the main computer of the Revenant, began the investigation into the Star and the Sith meditation sphere now docked with the heavy cruiser. Eris was able to discover that the Star was what the Sith called a kail'ya, something akin to a personal journal and a "battery" for the energy of the Force. In ancient times, these items were common enough, and were constructed by Sith apprentices to assist them in their studies. Over the millenia, with the destruction of much of the Sith culture, they have become rare, even unique. Regardless, through heroic effort, once Eris' Force abilities unlocked the artifact, Pandora was able to transfer the massive amount of data into a portable storage device, though the format of the data was unreadable in its current form, most likely requiring specialized computer equipment dating back to the Sith era.
As for the Sith meditation sphere, once auxiliary power was restored, Revenant was able to interface with it's onboard computer system and reveal parts of it's nature and final journey. Called the Oph'irum, (Sith: vision/foretelling), it was the meditation sphere of the Sith cruiser Recusant, which fled the destruction of its parent cruiser in the Fourth Age of Mak'to (~1,009 BBY). The pilot, a Zabrak male identified as one "Darth Horvuus", appeared to be suffering from some sort of extreme necrotizing disease which progressed during the course of the Sith Lord's journey from the Cloak of the Sith out into the Greater Tion Cluster, culminating in the Oph'irum's crash into the rogue comet that would become the home of Point Nadir in the distant future.
Meanwhile, Lazar was coordinating with his new allies in Epsis, attempting to track down the fugitive Barin Trevina and the extremely well-trained assassin who ambushed his crew on the landing slip. Meeting with the leadership council of Point Nadir by HoloNet, including Puzell for Epsis, Tis Dolan, the Wroonian majordomo of Zietta the Hutt, and the Corellian pirate captain Zan Dane, Cortess in his guise of Captain "Shrike" Keto, assumed the responsibilities of protecting the secrets of Point Nadir in exchange for his half percentage stake in the port. Additionally, he received the information that the last transport to flee Point Nadir holding the sought assassin and the Balosar thief was the Wayfarer-Class transport called the Lurenac's Luck, captained by a Nemoidian, Kemphor Lurenac. Epsis also delivered the Luck's secret coordinates for rendezvous with an unknown vessel, giving the Argo the only open window to ambush the transport and retrieve the thief for Hutt justice.
With everything lined up, the pirate's launched their attack on the Luck, a lightning raid that left little room for error. Cutting through the mercenary fighter wing housed in the transport's cargo bay, the Argo quickly began to grapple with the larger vessel while the command crew blasted their way inside. Encountering stiff resistance from the mercenary crew, the pirates still swiftly disabled the ship's main power. Following the urging of the Force, Eris cut her way through to the ship's cargo bay where she discovered the unknown Sable Dawn assassin and Barin Trevina attempting to sabotage the stricken vessel and escape in a small shuttle. Engaging the assassin in battle, Eris found herself pushed to the limit by the Force adept's battle training and ferocity. Temporarily finding herself on the back foot, she was saved from a felling strike by Johner Varad, who was himself impaled by the assassin's shock staff. Surging to attack, Eris swiftly disarmed the assassin who, seeing the battle turning against him, attempted to flee for the departing shuttle.
In the greater battle, the rendezvous vessel had arrived, endangering the Argo crew immensely. A fully battle armed and equipped Dreadnought, the Fist of Cron, had appeared out of hyperspace. Resolving to end the fight and escape as fast as possible, Lazar had set the Luck on a death course for the oncoming behemoth, and the crew, along with the stricken Johner Varad and the fleeing Balosar escaped the transport at the last moment, leaving the assassin to perish in the explosion that ripped apart the Fist's bow shields.
While the Fist of Cron reeled from the unexpected impact the crew fled at top speed for the safety of hyperspace having achieved both their prize and their vengeance, but at the possible cost of their crewman, Varad.
Finally, on distant Janodral Mizar, the real Lazar Cortess, not the holographic representation of him piloting the Proxima droid, confronted Vice President Paldar Haight, Supply Chain Director for NuLife Corporation on Mizar. Having reasoned out that Haight was the man with both the most to gain from acquiring the alchemical information stored on the Fell Star and the means to have employed Prello's cartel to acquire it in the first place, Lazar was able to successfully extort several million credits worth of punitive charitable donations from the executive in exchange for silence.
