Story
A Small Measure of Peace
Act 1
- Led by the very incarnations of the gods, the Mulhorandi march for war. They are joined by Thay, Unther, Chessenta, and the Jade Empire...the very scions of Imaskar. The medjai guide them through the wastes, empowering them to fight on through the endless night, through the desert storms, against undying foes. Osiris calls upon the countless guardians of the Eternal Realm to join the armies of the day. And so the forces of good triumph, and the second siege of Inupras begins.
- The party infiltrates the Palace of the God-Emperor. They discover the waiting vessels Set has prepared, hand-picked servitors to contain the personalities of the 13 Preservers, once any trifling wills had been suitably crushed, of course.
- They also find the legions of Shadovar to which he has allied himself, including Logan...and someone who's behind all of it.
Act 2
- Battle with Logan.
- When his "HP" are gone, he sucks them into the blade. There, he reveals the truth: he plans to destroy the Shadow King. To do so, he must die. He believes the sacrifice is worth it; and besides, he's earned his death many times over.
- He is struck down, and in his death, he destroys the corporeal form of Erik...including himself, every single unawakened clone, and the very animate form itself.
Act 3
Epilogue.
To Invent the Universe
- Party confronts Set.
- He is planning to resurrect the Imaskari Empire, expanding to conquer the entire world. In fact, he though the party would help get the Shadovar out of the way, and was counting on it. He thanks them.
- They try to fight. He's too powerful. It's hopeless.
- Keket sacrifices herself to weaken Set, to force him to face his own evil. He decries himself and his cruel fate. He tries to resurrect her, but he has no such power.
- But then...Keket is reborn. The Goddess appears. She is moved by their willingness to sacrifice, their tenacity for life. "Have all mortals have such love of life? Such faith and courage?"
- "Perhaps it is your imperfection that grants you free will. That allows you to persevere against cosmically calculated odds. You prevailed where the Maker's own perfect creations have failed."
- She address Set and the others. "Always have I thought of you as enemies. As invaders. I was afraid. Jealous. But in forsaking you...I damned myself to loneliness. For so long, I've slept in the void...always so alone. What cosmic irony binds us to such a fate?"
- She address Keket and the party.
- "All along, you have wanted the same as I. To preserve life, in all its variety, its imperfection...its beauty and warmth. We have always been kindred spirits."
- To Set, "I forgive you. And I would know you, your people, the wisdom you have brought to my world. And I would share with you all that I am, all that I know."
- She embraces Set, Nepthys, Anhur, Horus-Tep, Osiris, and all the rest.
- The Goddess: "I understand now. To know the Universe...you must first..." she only smiles. "I shall journey to the stars. We will travel far."
- With Keket's knowledge, and the Goddess' limitless power, she resurrects the true Ship of the Gods, the boundless light-form in which they originally arrived, so long ago.
- They board the ship, and it ascends into the sky. The ship is set upon by Shadovar fortresses as it approaches the Disk of Night that has blotted out the sun.
- Pure sunlight emanates from the ship, and the Shadovar fortresses are no more. The Disk of Night slides away, and the sun glows once more. The ship vanishes into the glare of the sun.
