Narwhal
Random:
- Hybrids require too many good ability scores. Casters need only one, usually
- A purely skill-based system is worth exploring
Like Manticore, but no powers. Thus:
- Character creation:
- 10 point buy
- X skills
- Each level:
- 1 skill or feat or ability score
Ability scores and magic:
- Use Int for attack rolls, setting DCs, and achieving Use Magic success
- Use Wis for max Mana (# of magic skill ranks + Wis)
- Use Cha for damage rolls, dominance
Skills:
- Grant all spells in a given Discipline (e.g. Fire, Frost, Force), up to the skill's rank (probably 1-3, maybe 1-5)
- Skill check = 1d20 + Int + proficiency
- On failure, miscast (or use mixed success rules)
Feats:
- As 5e (ugh), or use for Upgrades (should be pretty spiffy)
Enhanced / Monster Classes:
- Just take levels in such a class. This system is for mere mortals (with magic).
Interface:
- Skill / attribute selection using checkboxes, similar to MotW
- Powers show up dynamically, similar to D&D Beyond

Heavy Weapons
;Rank 1:
- Cleave: At-will, std, melee attack; if you hit, you can attempt an attack on an adjacent target. (If rank 2+, can attempt as many chains as your Heavy Weapons rank)
- Slam: At-will, std, melee attack; inflicts critical damage, but provokes an attack of opportunity before it connects.
;Rank 2:
- Knockback: At-will, std, melee attack; normal damage, but target is pushed 1 square.
- Stagger: At-will, std, melee attack; normal damage, but target is staggered until his next turn and cannot use Parry or Block, and suffers -4 AC.
;Rank 3:
- Knockdown: At-will, std; as a normal melee attack, but if you hit, subject must pass a Strength save or be knocked prone. Subject gains advantage if larger than you, or if it has more than two legs.
- Whirlwind Attack: Recharge 33%, std; make a single melee attack and damage roll against all targets within melee reach.
;Feats:
- Heavy Blows: You may use two std-action heavy weapons maneuvers at the same time (e.g. Cleave and Knockback, or Slam and Stagger).
Ranged Weapons
;Rank 1:
- Aim: At-will, swift
