Synopsis
Session Summary
The party sets off in the Sky Siren, Tyburn's newest turbojet plane, replying to the Prophet's invitation (via Gladius) to visit the Machine City. Before they can penetrate the Grey Mist surrounding the Mournland, they must refuel as close as possible. They land at New Cyre, mere miles from the border. There, they observe a caravan assembling to cross into the Mournland, escorted by Reforged porters and vehicles, attracting Cyran pilgrims and other curious onlookers. The Siren takes on fuel, and climbs to 30,000 feet, the highest altitude yet reached by any aircraft, to overtop the Grey Mist and penetrate the Mournland. They observe an arid waste, covered by masses of what seemed to be snow. Only a few dozen miles in, a lightning storm erupts, and a massive lightning elemental descends from the clouds, attacking the plane. With two engines disabled, the Siren is forced to land, and the party battles the elemental on the ground. After defeating it, they store the souls within a black diamond necklace Selina carries. As they prepare to take off again, they are caught in a silica storm, and Ariadne must use her powers to calm the winds. Tyburn repairs the engines, which are clogged with volcanic ash-like particles. Selina investigates the storm's edge, pulling a soul from the storm and examining it. When the party rests for the night, they dream of a strange land of beautiful, exotic nature, and hundreds of thousands of human inhabitants: the lost souls of Cyre.
