Damien Winters is a warlock currently residing in Las Vegas. Born to a family at odds with the Russian government, he emigrated to the U.S. as a refugee, along with his mother. He lived a relatively normal life in the suburbs of New York, until he inadvertently formed a pact with the forces of Hell, gaining magical abilities which quickly spiraled out of control. He now seeks to control his powers, and find some escape from inevitable damnation. As a high-school dropout with a shady past, he is persecuted not only by demons and wizards, but by the law as well--and even by agents of the Russian government, who have not forgotten his family's trespasses against them.

Legacy, Titles, and Honors

Status

  • Naturalized citizen, Unites States of America
    • Criminal record: suspected on many counts of juvenile delinquence, but authorities were unable to stick any convictions due to unexplained anomalies with chain of evidence
  • Eldritch Accords:
    • As a human practitioner not registered with the Academy, with multiple credible counts of violations of the Laws of Magic, Damien is a suspected warlock and has a warrant for his arrest by the Eldritch Knights.

Biography

Short version:

  • Lived in Karelia (Russia, but really Finland) until age 4
  • Father's political activism got him thrown in secret prison; mother fled with him to the US via Finland
  • Grew up in New York City, relatively normal childhood
  • As a teenager, was approached by an infernal agent and tempted into accepting infernal power
  • "Rescued" by an elder warlock who counseled him away from the edge, teaching him how to protect his soul and force his will upon Hell, not the other way around
  • As a young adult, has turned to "the good side", adventuring with like-minded "heroes" to protect Las Vegas from supernatural threats and overbearing authoritarian regimes

Skills and Powers

As a child, Damien was a talented computer programmer, taking after his parents. He retains a high degree of cybersecurity expertise (is what we're calling it...he's a hacker).

As a teenager, he gained access to infernal magic, and learned the power to cause pain, set things on fire, and bind infernal energy into the form of weapons. He tries not to do the former anymore, but it's still quite useful to practice the latter.

As a young adult, he managed to pick up impressive motorcycle skills. He's no sniper, but is a decent shot with firearms, prefering mid-range automatic weapons.

He is served by Bezekira, a "hellcat", which takes the form of a mountain lion made of fire, but can disguise itself as a regular large cat.
