Laurel Vane is Shae's ecological opposite and behaves like it. Where the oconee bell keeps low to the ground and out of sight, mountain laurel rises conspicuously through the understory and covers itself in clusters of elaborate flowers.
She sees very little virtue in going unnoticed, and cannot entirely understand why anyone would spend centuries getting good at it. Her position, stated often:
