Morrow Hemlock
- Kind
- Tree fairy
- Bound tree
- Eastern hemlock
- Domain
- The forest canopy
- Role
- Watcher, guardian
Tall and elongated by fairy standards, dressed in hanging layers of dark needles and tiny cones, Morrow Hemlock seems ancient even to Shae — which takes some doing.
He holds the canopy; she holds the ground. They experience the same forest from opposite ends of it. Shae knows what moves beneath the leaves. Morrow knows what is coming from beyond them.

They trade what the highest layer knows for what the lowest layer knows. Neither of them speaks particularly often, and neither has ever found this uncomfortable.
