The Lantern comes out after dark: pale, silent, and nearly luminous against the black forest, and several times Shae's size. Unlike most of the cove, it has never become the least bit person-shaped. It remains fundamentally strange.
Shae rides on its back. It has never been established whether the Lantern is aware that this is happening.
