Runecarving

Rank 1

You can engrave runes on a weapon or casting implement, or upon shields and armor.

Weapon, Shield or Armor Size Rune Capacity
Light 1
Medium 2
Heavy 3

Each rune has an encounter cooldown, although they can be instantly refreshed by spending 1 Mana.

Weapon augment attacks do not cost an action--they are part of the action of attacking with the weapon.

Invocations are a standard action unless otherwise stated.

Armor runes generally apply reactively unless otherwise stated.

Rune of Force

Weapon augment: adds 50% base damage as force, plus push 5, plus knockdown (Dex negates).

Invocation: encounter, std, ranged; medium force damage plus push 5 plus knockdown (Dex negates).

Shield: encounter, reaction; creates a wall of force 1 square wide and tall for 1 round or until you move.

Armor: encounter, reaction; become immune to push/pull/slide for 1 rd. Resist grappling in some manner (TBD)

Rune of Fire

  • Weapon: encounter, augment; adds 50% base damage as fire plus same ongoing for 3 rds.
  • Invocation: encounter, std, ranged; medium fire damage plus same ongoing for 3 rds.
  • Shield: encounter, reaction or free; enemies who strike you in melee suffer medium fire damage each time they do so. Furthermore, if you block damage, you inflict the amount blocked as fire damage to the attacker. Lasts 3 rounds.
  • Armor: encounter, reaction or free; gain Resist 75% (fire), decaying by 25% each round.

Rune of Frost

Rank 2

+1 rune capacity

New runes:

  • Air
    • Big jumps, slow fall, throwable shield/weapon

Enhancements:

  • Increased effectiveness of runes when spending 2 runes instead of 1. Examples:
    • 2 rune fire: attack becomes a cone
    • 2 rune force: push 10

Rank 3

+1 rune capacity, 1 Greater Rune

New runes:

  • Shadows
