In Chile there is a tradition of the *Kalku dark witches enemies with the Machi (benevolent witches) **Chile and Mapuche *Witches of Chiloé **Chilote tradition: The Warlock of Chiloé ("Brujo de Chiloé" or "Brujo chilote" ) He travels in "the Caleuche" (a mythical and scary ghost ship).

The presence of the witch is a constant in the ethnographic history of colonial Brazil, especially during the several denunciations and confessions given to the Holy Office of Bahia (1591–1593), Pernambuco and Paraiba (1593–1595).[45]
