Ythazz Buvaar is the founder and first Zulkir of the nation of Thay. He currently resides in the Necropolis of Bezantur as a demilich of immense power and terrible knowledge.
The Art and charisma of this former wizard priest of the Order of Thoth were instrumental in resurrecting the underground brotherhood of the Red Wizards after their near extermination with the execution of their founder, Thayd, in -1081 DR.
His raising of Delhumide, the imperial governor's seat of the Thayan plateau in 922, the Year of the Spouting Fish, signaled the end of Second Mulhorandi Empire and the founding of the nation of Thay.
Ythazz Buvaar served as the architect of the early Thayan nation and at some unknown time either before or after his victory over Mulhorand transitioned into undeath. At some unknown time, he was either imprisoned or had himself interred in the crypts of Bezantur where he now dwells, seeking worthy apprentices and a suitable host to which he can transition his soul for re-emergence into the world of the living.
