History Of The Church Of Kossuth
Interesting facts: *The temple of Kossuth in Bezantur was originally a major Mulhorandi temple. It was taken over by priests of Kossuth in -150 DR, in an attempt to appease the angry god. It was burned and mostly ruined by the avatar. (It wouldn't be the first time the temple suffered major damage.) *Back then, pretty much all of Thay was a wild land, dominated by centaur tribes displaced by the rise of Raumathar. There were a number of Raumathari strongholds in the area, mostly to capture key natural and magical resources for their wars against Narfell. *During this period, the southern coast of modern Thay and the Wizards' Reach was under the dominion of Mulhorand and Unther, who raced each other to colonize the fertile coast. They drove the foul beasts and half-men of the region up the escarpment, and held the coast for themselves. *It was also during this period that Eltab, having conquered Rashemen for Narfell, became the tyrant lord of the land, making a permanent enemy of the Wychlaran. They ultimately imprisoned him in a Raumathari dungeon specially crafted to hold powerful demons. *The Raumathari were not a very religious people, though their subjects were. The early (pre-Wychlaran) Rashemi were barbarians (even more so) who worshipped base gods. Among them was Kas, the god of fire. The sole god embodying warfare, he was a powerful and oft-invoked god in the tumultuous years of the fall of Raumathar. His worship spread well beyond Rashemen, as the tribesfolk displaced by Eltab drifted into modern Thay and Thesk. *Thay was conquered over the early centuries DR by dispossed rashemi barbarians (who did not consider themselves part of Rashemen). A series of extensive wars between the rashemi and the local centaurs ultimately made the land more peaceful. Mulhorand was able to colonize much of Thay, claiming the abandoned Raumathari strongholds as their own, and making the now native rashemi tribesmen their subjects.
