Evangeline Lastname is a standout member of Hunter's Guild to be named, who has successfully investigated and prosecuted dozens of high-profile cases across Europe and the Middle East since her induction in the order 11 years ago. As a woman who has brought justice to victims of vampires, werewolves, warlocks, and the worst of them, she remains ironically unaware of her heritage, in that her father is The Dark Lord himself, kingpin of Europe's world of darkness.
While her half-vampiric nature gives her an edge, she owes most of her success to her natural intellect and sharp mind, and her years of arduous training and field experience. Her greatest successes can be attributed to her willingness to push past the hurdles others stall at, to take on risks, to follow leads to the absolute limit. She excels more at making enemies than friends, but the friends she has are do-or-die, and even those who don't like her among her order certainly respect her.
Ancestry
Evangeline is the only daughter of Vlad of Wallachia and Mother's Name. Her very conception was a surprise to her father, who thought such things impossible. He worried she would be some sort of deformed monster, or worse, a vampire like him, but to his surprise, she was a healthy baby girl, beloved by both parents.
Her health was hit-or-miss in youth, with Earthly doctors puzzled at her symptoms, and even her mother, a brilliant physician of her time, unable to puzzle out. Vlad knew the cause--her body hungered for Blood, and was starved. But he resolved that he would spare her the fate of vampirism, be it's price his life, his love, anything. He recruited alchemists, sages, warlocks, all in his command--a shadowy cabal with an unprecedented mission to make her thrive without blood.
And their mission bore fruit. Tinctures and tonics restored her health, and dispelled her fits of weakness and pallor, allowing her to grow into a strong and vibrant young woman. Her mother, a highly educated woman and champion of Enlightenment Era philosophy, was delighted to have a disciple in her daughter, teaching her all she knew, and importing the finest tutors from across Europe to teach her voracious young mind all that modern Science had to teach.
But these Halcyon days were not to last. At the age of 16, Evangeline lost her mother. Her father blamed monsters--vampires, werewolves, and the like, even though she would learn much later her mother was burned at the stake for witchcraft for practicing and teaching science. This formative event hardened Evangeline, galvanizing her against the supernatural forces of darkness, leading her to join the Rosicrucian Order as a Hunter.
Appearance
While her mother was a natural blonde with deep Germanic heritage, Evangeline has striking platinum blonde hair, a feature her father bade her never to cut, for it reminded him so of her dear departed mother. She inherited some of her father's imposing height and build, with her physical fitness well beyond most women of her day. Her skin is typical of Germanic descent, and her blue eyes match her mother's.
In her professional pursuits, she is to be found likely in a tricorn hat, a tailored coat, and knee-high boots, as most modern Hunters dress. She wields a three-barreled pistol, and a strange and distinct sword that can transform into a whip-blade.
