Guild Master

Just plain "Lumi"
Guild master, master arcanist, unflappably agreeable and endlessly patient, while maintaining high moral standards for her guild. While it's known that she acquired great wealth through her adventurous past, it's not known for whom and to what ends her power was used in the old regime, or even the extent of that power. Only a handful of S-class members would claim to have ever seen her work magic in anger, but everyone understands that not only could she if she wanted to, but she could probably make a very serious claim for Kalak's throne.

Team Vael

One part swordsman, nine parts ego
He's hot and he knows it. A great swordsman (well, he's all right; he could be much better if he could dial the ego back long enough to learn something), he knows his true gift is his beautiful visage. So why he decided to culturally appropriate Ashkari tattoos, one may never guess (those are earned, not bought in a store). Through one part charisma and three parts sheer tenacity, he has bullied an assortment of meek, soft-spoken adventurers (and one sycophant eager to draft on his good will) into forming a team, the "risingest up-and-comers in the guild". One day, he'll lead this whole thing...hey, stop laughing. Stop!
Male Illari elf, age 20
Potentially brilliant, if she can learn to see past her own beautiful plumage
Keseti Brightquill is an aaracokra (phenotype: secretary bird). She's clever, dexterous, exceedingly vain, and secretly not half as charismatic as she'd like to come off as, so she hides in the shadow of Vael. She's down bad for the pretty elf, but he's probably more interested in his own reflection (she can relate). Ranged attacker and minor psionic talent, she has potential, if she can ever focus on anything but glazing him.
Female aaracokra, age 4
She who does not forget
As silent and peaceful as an unspoiled grove, Ora Stillwater is a woman with deep reverence for nature and an abiding calm that belies her giantish blood. She is unpracticed with human social norms and often says the wrong thing, which leads her to prefer silence. She has a terrible memory for names, even her own, as her people are not given to names; "Ora" means "patience", her most prized virtue. She allowed Vael to bully her into his team, not knowing how to express her discontent with the idea.
Female firbolg, age 18
The seed does not fear the hand that buries it.
Mo-ul Stonebloom (it's pronounced moh-ool, not "maul") is a gentle, poetic, and introspective mul, who happens to be 6'6" with arms thicker than Vael's already impressively thick head. His team leader is quick to boast of his fierce, barbaric nature, his beast-like strength, his savage fury, etc. In truth, Mo-ul loves nothing more than to spend long hours in the garden, watching the leaves sway in the wind, contemplating the rays of sunlight dappling through the canopy. Once, he saw a flock of butterflies alight in the guild's fountain, and he cried for an hour. Ora joins him in silent reverie, their mutual understanding and bond deeper than even his poet's words can describe, though he has certainly tried. In his mind, the beauty of nature is converted into breathtaking and profound art, as his poetry communicates the one truly superhuman power he possesses: the depth of his love for the beauty of the world. And yeah, well, he can in fact rip a man's arms off. But it's really not his cup of tea (that's lavender with a bit of cream).
Male mul, age 19

B-Class Adventurers

Tomb raider, but the nice kind.
Treasure hunter, aspiring artificer, Evi takes after her father, a legendary treasure hunter who built a name and a fortune for himself and his family. When he was betrayed by a close associate, and merchants and politicians conspired to drain his fortune for their own ends, she vowed to rebuild his legacy and bring justice to the perpetrators.
Female human, age 25
Separated by light and darkness
Once inseparable, the twins were divided by a sorcerous curse; Nia only exists during the day, and Nua only at night. They adventure in a desperate hope to find a way to break the curse and be reunited, and the path may be to master their new powers, that of Sun and Shadow. And no, this is not a Ranma Β½ thing; they have separate minds and identities.
Male and Female half-elves, age 32
Too cool for school (get it, because she's a frost giant?)
Daughter of Heigen, skilled warrior, runecarver, and earth shaman. Accustomed to sub-zero temperatures, she finds Tyr unbearably hot, and disdains the need for training and discipline. After a brush with death, she has begun to reconsider her approach.
Female goliath, age 19
Silver-tongued devil
Bard, magician, gambler, and generally charming devil with natural teleportation abilities. Zeq doesn't really prefer to adventure, but will gladly tag along with others to ensure their safety.
Male tiefling, age 34
Moon maiden
Vigilant of Sharazh, ancient goddess of the moon, Ley is an atypical Ashkari. Her relic allows her to channel divine power, which she uses to heal the wounded and protect her allies. She has dedicated her life to restoring the faith, as impossible a task as it may seem. She claims to know many truths of the Ashkari that the others of her kin disagree with.
Female ashkari elf, age 33
He doesn't monkey around
A member of the not-too-common Hadozee race, Gunnar is known for his agility, climbing skills, and keen senses. This irritates him greatly, as he would rather be known for his intellect, education, and keen business sense. He resents the stereotypes of his people--he worked hard to get where he is today, and it's insulting to ask him if he likes bananas.
Of course he likes bananas.
Male hadozee, age 23
Luck is not a superpower!
Curious, eager, cocksure, and always ready for an adventure, Leo recently (and somewhat improbably) ascended to B-class status. While his adventuring skills are reasonable, his judgment has often been called into question, and some accuse him of leaning too heavily on his inherited relic: a magical gauntlet that gives him telekinetic powers. Evi in particular buts heads with him, as their interest areas overlap, but their personalities clash. The problem his critics can't seem to account for, though, is his unaccountable luck. He was dealt a great hand by life, and every situation always seems to go right for him.
Male human, age 21
The unmotivated prodigy
One of the most gifted minds of his generation...except in terms of motivation. Laszlo is a brilliant sorcerer, with an intuition for magic bordering on the supernatural (or I guess, super-supernatural). But he just doesn't care all that much. He adventures when he gets bored, but gets bored of adventuring. He could probably be A-class even at his age, but he doesn't put in the work. Many have tried to get to the bottom of his malaise, but he deflects. Still, if you can get him to show up for a fight, you're sure to win it.
Male human, age 19
There's no darn X in my name!
Sobekites aren't unknown in Athas, but most live in Raam, where the city's vast network of waterways makes a fine home for the water-loving people. Reks has given up on his home city, and seeks opportunity and adventure in the Free City. Despite his fierce appearance, he's rather amiable, and despite sterotypes, doesn't prefer to bite people's heads off. His natural strength benefits him as a warrior, but he prides himself on his civility and manners, preferring fine clothes and expensive luxuries.
Male sobekite, age 34

A-Class Adventurers

The smiling sentinel
Former mercenary and bodyguard, Akshay fights evil with dashing charisma, righteous vengeance, and a conspicuous lack of shirts. Fierce protector and ardent mentor to the guild's younger members.
Male human, age 36
Queen of the arena
Gladiatrix, martial arts master, and lover of combat, Ming-Na was bored of always winning in the safe confines of the arena. With the rise of chartered adventuring guilds, she thought she'd find greater challenge. She did, but she also found greater purpose.
Female human, age 32
Everybody's dad
Massive, gregarious warrior from the Ringing Mountains, Heigen joined the guild to ensure his daughter Thora had a place to learn things she couldn't back home. While he can be...intense...his love of merrymaking is legendary, topped only by his fierce drive to defend his new family.
Male goliath, age 53
Princess of the Deepnest
Insectoid warrior from a strange kingdom under the mountains. Weaves things from silk and fights with a bone needle. Don't call her a thri-kreen.
Female weaver, age 277
The sands of time must flow.
Ashkari by birth, but raised in New Gieustenal, Zaman was a gifted apprentice to Dregoth. Few of his peers could master even the basics of the Sorcerer-King's esoteric teachings, especially that of Chronomancy--one of the rarest arcane arts. Zaman was most gifted among them, showing natural proficiency and an intuitive grasp of the unintuitive nature of time. When ready, he was sent into the field on errands for his master, and inevitably came into contact with members of his own kind. He'd lacked the context to understand popular conceptions of the Sorcerer-Kings and their ways, and began to doubt his master's righteousness. Ultimately, he chose to exile himself, seeking refuge in a far-flung city-state, hoping his master wasn't offended enough to pursue him. He still seeks mastery of the arcane art of Chronomancy, and found in Lumi an able teacher.
Male Ashkari, age 39

S-Class Adventurers

The veiled blade
Mysterious sword-master, former(?) assassin, daughter of a legendary warrior and a goddess. Her father was killed by the liberators of Tyr, and she vowed vengeance. Lumi turned her from the path of destruction, and helped her find new purpose and meaning with the guild.
Female human (demigoddess), age 31
The sun priestess
Monk, psion, solarian devotee, and probably the strongest member of the guild. Not only is she a peerless martial artist (who has not indulged Mina's many requests for a duel, for the same reason a man doesn't wrestle a puppy), but her psionic abilities are quite formidable, lending her ranged attacks and even healing ability. Fairly mysterious and reclusive, she meditates far more than she fraternized.
Female human, age 28

Guild Support Staff

Big D...daddy Energy
Arcanist, instructor, former apprentice to Sorcerer-King Kalak (yes, that Kalak), Abdul is a strict disciplinarian and self-appointed teacher of everyone in the guild with less arcane ability than himself (so basically everyone, except maybe Zahara). Despite his power, he is not an adventurer, preferring to rigorously train the next generation of mages within the guild's walls. He makes no secret of his self-esteem, and considers himself the only one fit to lead Phoenix Dawn--if, perish the thought, anything should happen to Lumi. He is never openly defiant, but the two have been heard arguing loudly behind closed doors.
Male human, age 45
His bedside manner is remarkably comforting
Doctor, biometabolic expert, horticulturalist, zoologist (specializing in humanoids), Ratchet is the guild's primary medical professional and caretaker. His knowledge of biology and medicine is unparalleled, and he is known for his calm demeanor even in the most dire situations. His psionic ability allows him to understand the complex internal biology of his patients without any chopping blindly into goop.
Male thri-kreen, age 50
Hey dog...you cool? I got some potions. You better not be wearing a wire.
Alchemist, potion brewer, occasional drug dealer, Azeem works with Ratchet to see to the guild's health, and goes above and beyond to see to their mental needs as well. His potions and tinctures are good for just about any ailment, and his...aromatherapy sessions...are quite eye-opening.
Male Illari elf, age 120
Oh dear, you look so thin! Try this!
Chef, baker, mixologist, and general purveyor of fine foods and beverages. Fiera has a Drey's burning hunger, and assumes everyone else does too. Despite cooking for a small army, there's always too much, and she hates wasting food.Though she could make a masterpiece of old bugs and shoe leather, Lumi keeps her supplied with fine ingredients. Whether it's a roast, a savory stew, sweet honeyed pastries, or even the (very) occasional salad, you're always going to eat well in Fiera's kitchen.
Female dray, age 38
All I ever wanted was to study.
As the guild's librarian, cartographer, and loremaster, Youssef is an invaluable resource, always happy to teach willing students. Once, he had the ear of Kalak himself, who also valued his knowledge. Lumi judged his moral character to be quite acceptable, despite his former associations. Plus, he's not a wizard, so he's hardly as much of a wildcard as Abdul. He tends to keep to the library, where the chaos and din are at a minimum.
Male human, age 62
The Tortle Package
Conscientious, fastidious, and not possessing an especially intense alacrity, Myrtle is a dependable--if somewhat ponderous--member of the guild staff, meticulously tracking the guild's assets to the last ceramic piece, uncompromising in her enforcement of documentation protocol, and ensuring not a single piece of loot has gone missing or been misallocated in all her years. "Speed is the enemy of truth," she often says...at her unique pace.
Female tortle, 195 years old
