Long ago, Gladiolus was the star scholar of the arcane academy in the City of Many Colors, capital of the Kingdom of the Pyreen. Peerless in her study of natural and arcane sciences, Gladiolus' voracious appetite for knowledge could not be slaked by the confines of the academy alone, and she spent much of her time traveling the kingdom and beyond, seeking out rare texts, ancient artifacts, and the wisdom of sages and scholars from distant lands.
Against her father's wishes, she learned much from Rajaat and his disciples, who were pushing the boundaries of arcane study beyond what the Pyreen ever had, with their innate magic making deep study unnecessary. With her song of Space, she could not be bound by any physical limitations, and sought to see all corners of the world, and learn all she could from her own eyes. She authored thousands of texts in her day, hoping other Pyreen and "lesser races" would benefit from her insights.
During the ritual her father devised to give himself godhood at her (and her sisters', daughter's, and nieces' expense), she was instrumental in helping her sisters and their families escape the deadly consequences of the ritual, using her mastery of Space to create safe passages and hide them from her father's reach. Even in a frozen moment of time, she secreted away almost the entirety of her extended family, but due to Belladonna's failure to contain the ritual due to Kalak's machinations, she was frozen along with her father and sister, unable to escape herself.

Besides an encycopedic knowledge of every subject available in her day, Gladiolus possesses the song of Space, and can open portals between any two locations, or modify the spatial properties of an area, effectively altering distances, sizes, and the relative positions of objects within her influence.
