Baldr
Baldr is the most beloved of all the Aesir β radiant, gentle, and untroubled in a court that is anything but. He shines, quite literally; whatever the Aesir did to themselves across the long ages, in Baldr it came out as pure light and ease, and everyone who meets him loves him a little against their will.
Which is precisely the problem. Both Odin and Frigg have foreseen Baldr's death, and they read it as the first domino of RagnarΓΆk. Frigg has wrung an oath of safety from nearly every force in creation. Nearly. The whole court labors to keep one cheerful young god alive, and the harder they labor, the more certain it begins to feel that they are merely building the stage for the very tragedy they fear.
The Doom of Baldr
TODO: the dreams, the oaths, the single thing left unsworn, and the trickster who will go looking for it.
