You compel a hostile subject to refocus his hostilities on you. He must spend at least one standard action to attack you before taking any other actions. No attack roll required. Can be Extended; each +1 FP means subject must spend 1 additional standard action (if this requires multiple rounds, subject may use other actions as desired). |
Description
Challenge is a force power often used by Jedi Knights to protect those under their charge. By subtly redirecting the anger and hostility of their adversaries and substituting themselves, they can often effectively shield their wards from danger, often at great cost to themselves.
Techniques
- Challenging Shout: (1 FP) As Challenge, but in a burst 3, affecting all enemies.
Notes
- This is not actually a compulsion, or even a mental effect. It is a spiritual intercession, targeting the subject's emotions of rage and hostility themselves. In effect, you substitute yourself for the target of the subject's anger, redirecting their feelings without ever invading their mind. As such, no mental protection prevents this; the only way to resist or be immune is simply to have no negative emotion. Specifically:
- Droids and other automata are immune, except in the rare case of liberated droids with emotion simulators.
- Force users are allowed to contest, if they choose, forcing an opposed Concentration check. Each participant gains +5 to the check for every rank of Light alignment (i.e. Light III = +15), and -5 for every rank of Dark alignment.
- Certain others trained in mental discipline and emotional control are allowed the same option as Force Users. (In general, only elite, villainous, or otherwise special enemies should have this option)
