You may apply Parry Defense against ranged attacks that meet the following criteria:
- You are wielding one or more lightsabers
- The missile is composed entirely of energy, such as a blaster bolt
- The damage type is Thermal or EM
- All other criteria of Parry Defense are met
- The attack is a single missile, not an Area Effect
When the above is true, you may use Parry Defense as normal; all attacks that fail to hit your Parry Defense simply do not hit you.
You may also use it in other circumstances, with lesser effects:
- Against a kinetic or slashing projectile, you may use Parry Defense; however, projectiles that miss your Parry Defense but still hit your Reflex Defense are assumed to have been melted by your lightsaber prior to impacting you. Such attacks inflict half damage as Thermal instead of their previous type.
- Against a barrage of blaster bolts generated by Burst Fire, successfully Parry indicates that you take half damage, unless the attack missed your Parry Defense by 5 or more.
- Against a barrage of blaster bolts generated by Autofire, only if the attack misses you by 5 or more do you take half damage, otherwise you take full damage.
- As a special case, you may use this ability against the Force Lightning power.
This talent cannot be used to negate attacks made by Colossal (frigate) or larger-size vehicles unless the attack is made with a point-defense weapon.
