Synopsis

Fresh from their promotion to B-class, Phoenix Dawn accepts an escort mission for Senator Dakhan and his retinue—including the mysterious priestess Anak-su—traveling to the distant city of Kalamaze. They journey alongside the insufferable Team Vael and encounter their old rivals from Demon's Hand.

The harsh Athasian wasteland tests them at every turn: scorching yellow suns force the party to dig earthen shelters, while Vael's recklessness nearly gets them killed when he shoots at a majestic Cloud Ray. The party defeats an Elder Roper ambush and reaches Fort Scon's, where tensions with Vael's team finally boil over, leading to a separation.

Traveling through brutal sandstorms and haboobs, Six discovers and revives a petrified tree using time magic, inadvertently awakening an ancient ecosystem—complete with extinct fruit, wildlife, and a hostile psionic fungal entity. After defeating the construct, they harvest the miraculous bounty and trade at a massive caravan, acquiring slaves (whom Vis frees by killing their slaver), animals, gems, and a Thri-kreen's glass map of distant lands.

The journey culminates at an obsidian obelisk site, where the party enters a pocket dimension containing Kalak's illusory memories. There they confront Zayin, the First Eidolon—one of Kalak's soul shards—in an epic battle, ultimately re-imprisoning it before the dimension collapses. The episode ends as the party arrives at the gleaming pyramid city of the sorcerer queen.
