Kingdom of the Pyreen (king)

Amaranth was the King of the Kingdom of the Pyreen for almost three millennia. He took many wives, and raised seven daughters, each with unique and powerful Pyreen magic. His sinister objective for them was to complete a grand ritual, which would combine their power and life force, along with one each of their own daughters, and the celestial spirits he bound in each, to grant himself god-like power, unlimited in scale and scope, at the cost of his own offspring. Pyreen are naturally gifted with magic, and his was perhaps the greatest of them all: Creation. But no Pyreen has two powers, let alone more, and he coveted the powers he did not possess. He devised a plan to birth the perfect 7 daughters, who would represent the 7 axes of magical power, which, like the 7 colors of the spectrum, could combine into the whole of all possible magic. His power, the Light of Creation, could not only create something from nothing, but could also bind celestials, and so he bound in each daughter a powerful being, planning to combine their divine essence to not only grant him all possible Pyreen magic, but the soul of a god.

His plan nearly worked, until his daughter Belladonna, gifted with Time magic, foresaw the outcome, and conspired with the others to hijack the ritual. At the last moment of casting, she froze time, and her sisters fled the kingdom with their families, as she stole control of the ritual from her father, forming its power into a different effect: his eternal imprisonment, locked away in perpendicular time. However, the ritual was sabotaged by Kalak, whom she'd trusted with knowledge of her plot, who'd built for her a powerful magical focus, only to steal it back before the ritual. She fell short of controlling the magic, and a wild surge caused her desired effect--temporal stasis--for the entire Kingdom of the Pyreen, including herself and her father.

While Belladonna has since escaped her temporal prison, Amaranth remains frozen in time, his form remembered in obsidian, within the casting chamber of his floating castle at the center of the Obsidian Plains.

Appearance

Even among Pyreen, Amaranth strikes a regal and imposing figure. His angular, perfectly symmetrical features, almost elven in nature (if he didn't consider elves a lesser race), are framed perfectly by long, straight white hair with iridescent highlights, cascading down his back and shoulders. His horns are long, gracefully curved, and adorned with gemstones of every color, reflecting light in a dazzling array of hues. His scales are white, but reflect light prismatically, every angle shining a unique and mesmerizing pattern. His tail is long and thick, and his wingspan vast, more than sufficient for flight. He favors gossamer, multi-layered robes of every color, with shifting hues within each panel of starsilk. Intricate inlays border each panel, with patterns describing his many and ancient deeds, and those of his forefathers, which presaged his rise to greatness.

Abilities

In life, Amaranth was a brilliant planner and strategist, a commanding and charismatic leader, and a clever schemer, able to manipulate events and people to his advantage with remarkable skill and foresight. His abilities extended beyond mere intellect; he possessed exceptional physical prowess, agility, and combat skills, making him a formidable opponent in both political and physical arenas.

Eclipsing all of that was his magical power. Every Pyreen has a unique song, that gives them a narrow but deep magical ability. Some can control fire, some speak to trees, some like his daughters have exceptional powers such as the ability to see through and control time itself. But Amaranth's power was the Light of Creation: a brilliant white light, fading to every color as it does its work. Anything he can envision, he can create, seemingly without practical limits. He built most of the City of Many Colors alone, as well as the Sky Palace where his throne resided. Mere creation of matter and energy was not his limit--his creations followed their own rules, flagrantly defying physics. The aforementioned Sky Palace hovers miles in the air, unsupported, even to this day, frozen as it is in obsidian. Once, water poured forth from an eternal wall, cascading down beautiful waterfalls, feeding resplendent gardens, before plummeting miles down to blanket the Misted Lake below, at the shores of which his capital city was built.

While few remember anyone brave enough to battle him openly, a notable example occurred during the final stages of the Cleansing Wars, when Rajaat and his champions faced him directly. The aggressors had felled giant tribes, armies of goblins, and every foe who dared resist. Their magic shook the earth, and stripped acres of life instantly with every casting. It is said that in this battle, he single-handedly held his own against 13 Defilers, and when they began to falter, he summoned holy wrath from the Heavens, incinerating several of them, causing the rest to flee. He then used the Light of Creation to restore that which they had defiled--a feat never since duplicated by any act of the Preservers. If his power can truly restore what was lost, many surmise, it may be worth finding some way to resurrect him.
