Helheim
Helheim is the realm of the dead β but not the glorious dead. Those who fall worthily are gathered to Valhalla on Asgard; everyone else comes here. In a civilization that has learned to record the pattern of a mind, death is not always an ending: the souls of the unchosen are stored, sorted, and kept in the vast data-deeps of Helheim, a cold underworld-archive at the foot of Yggdrasil.
Its ruler is Hel, daughter of Loki, given dominion over the dead by Odin himself β a gift that was also an exile. She governs a realm larger than any other, growing by the hour, and the Aesir are beginning to wonder whether they made a mistake handing so much power to someone with so little reason to love them.
