Loki

Loki is a jotunn by blood and an Aesir by oath β€” blood-brother to Odin, and the cleverest, most dangerous, most necessary liar in the Nine Realms. He is a shape-changer in every sense: of form, of loyalty, of intent. The empire keeps him close because his schemes have saved it as often as they have nearly destroyed it, and because no one has yet found a safe way to be rid of him.

He is the father of monsters β€” the great wolf, the world-serpent, and Hel, mistress of the dead β€” and the prophecies are unanimous that it is Loki who finally tips the realms into RagnarΓΆk, when his long, smiling patience with the gods who patronize him at last runs out. He knows this. He may be looking forward to it.
