BDH1-3
BDH1-3, "Fall From Grace", was episode 3 of Season 1 of the game Big Damn Heroes.
Story
- Act 1
- Mac asks for help on a case. Party investigates crime scene using F5's nifty holographic projection. Eve gets the sex vibe. Someone suggests asking Paris, but he's out. They leave a message.
- The victim: Jennifer "Flowers" Bellini, an exotic dancer (recently quit).
- Jake is attacked by a paladin! Sir Brennus (Duncan Hinds) is panicking, because Father O'Connor went missing. His evil detection put him on the trail of a demon, and it led him right to this building. After narrowly escaping, they decide to chill at the Magic Bean.
- Act 2
- While at the Magic Bean, they are approached by a young girl (Layla Nox) who needs asylum. She was referred by Pearl to this place, and, in turn, by Mama Sara, to the party. She is being chased by something evil, and needs a place to hide. Jake takes her to his place (naturally).
- Shortly after setting her up there, they get a call from Mac--another crime scene.
- Act 3
- They arrive while BPD is still on the scene. The others stay behind as Mac and Special Agent Evie go in. While inside, Eve catches the same psychic energy again, but this time with a twist: he knew she would be there, and turns up the volume on the creepy psychic sex energy, calling her out by name.
- The victim: Rachel Winters, prostitute, recently quit the business. (Pattern! Both victims are in the sex business, and recently retired)
- They decide to get Eve to safety, but before they get to base, the car crashes into an immovable object--the perp himself. He confronts them, then kicks their sorry asses; they manage to send him away long enough to seek shelter.
- Act 4
- Research reveals that this guy is a demon. They get a few more specific leads, but it's slow-going (lots of demons kill with sex). They decide to check with the churchy types.
- First, they swing by Jake's, but find that Layla has mysteriously vanished. With no leads, they continue to the church.
- At the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, they find Father O'Connor's stash, and of course Brennus. They talk him out of overt violence and hit the books.
- It turns out the Order of St. Pilitus has faced this guy before; he went by the name "Adam", but his true name is Socothbenoth, a demon lord associated with perversion and corruption through lust and sex. St. Pilitus himself faced him, though it was a vampire who finally bested him.
- They realize that they can probably summon him, using his symbol and true name, though, once summoned, he would not be easy to contain. They would need an all-or-nothing blast of power.
- Naturally, they hatch a plan.
- Act 5
- Vi calls in the Little 15 (they owed her a favor after the issue with Trish)
- Jake "calls in" ATLAS
- Sylvia calls in the little folk.
- Confrontation! Big fuck-all fight!
- He flaunts his demon nature at them, mocking their intent. "How can you kill an immortal?"
- Layla appears, in a sorry state. It seems they share wounds (that's why she was turning her body into a battlefield). "If you send me back to hell, she goes too. And the Father won't be pleased with her treachery."
- Layla decides to take matters into her own hands. She manifests fully, grabs Brennus' holy sword, and does her brother (and herself) in. Adam burns, calling to "Father" to save him...and crumbles to ash.
- Epilogue
- The party chills at the Magic Bean. Brennus arrives, finally not being a dick.
- Father O'Connor has a chat with Serafina on the merits of forgiveness, and how no being is beyond salvation.
