Wye
Population
Approximately 25,920 people reside in the Barony of Wye, the vast majority of them are humans. Wye is the most populous barony in the Duchy of Cirdan, and also boasts the most culturally diverse population, splitting the racial makeup between the Aventi and Borcan cultures relatively evenly. Roughly half of the population of the barony lives in the city of Wye, with the rest loosely distributed in small towns and villages clustered along the river Wye.
At A Glance
Occupying most of the larger river basin where the river's Vasha merges with the river Wye, the Barony consists mostly of the large city of Wye and the scattered farmsteads, logging villages, and fishing towns that service it. The barony is the eastern border of the Duchy of Cirdan, and also the closest to the rest of Impiltur, so in many ways it operates as the cultural center of the duchy. Likewise, the lifeblood of the barony is based on trade and the movement of goods and people along one of the two rivers that divides it, so inns, taverns, and way-stops are common along the barony's roads.
Geographically, the barony consists of the eastern edges of the rising Weald highlands, where both the land and the forest gently begin to taper off the closer one gets to the Borcan countryside. Hillside farmsteads and pastoral hamlets sit upon an intricate network of paths and simple roads that interconnect the Silver Highway and the Prince's Road. Eventually, all roads lead to the city of Wye itself. The people of the barony tend to have a certain pride and fondness for the age and relative importance of their chief city and all have friends or relatives that live in or near the barony's namesake.
