Freyja
Freyja is the most dangerous mind the Aesir ever took into their house. Mistress of seidr — the deep psionic art of the Vanir — she is at once the goddess of love and the goddess of war, of fertility and of the battlefield dead. It was Freyja who taught seidr to the Aesir; some say she taught it to Odin himself, which means the Allfather's deepest craft is borrowed from a people he conquered.
Half of all who fall in battle are hers before they are Odin's — she takes first choice of the slain, and no one in Asgard has ever dared dispute it. Proud, brilliant, and unbought, Freyja serves the empire on her own terms and not a hair beyond them, and everyone at court understands that she is the one Vanir who could truly bring it down.
