Avoidance
Avoidance is a chance to avoid an attack.
The default chance to avoid any attack is 0%.
Through the use of Dodge or Parry, you may increase this chance. Dodge allows you to dodge ranged or melee attacks of which you are aware, while Parry allows you to turn aside melee attacks with your weapon.
If you gain a bonus to all avoidance, it applies to default avoidance, too. This can give you a chance to avoid attacks that are otherwise unavoidable.
For example:
- You have a 25% Dodge chance and a 20% Parry chance.
- You gain a spell effect granting +20% to avoidance.
- Thus, you now have a 45% Dodge chance, a 40% Parry chance, and a 20% default avoidance chance.
- Against any attack you are allowed to Dodge, you have a 45% chance to Dodge.
- Against any attack you are allowed to Parry, you have a 40% chance to Parry.
- Against any other attack, you have a 20% chance to avoid.
