Homonculus

A homonculus is a golem, created by an engineer as a servant. It is a mindless construct, animated by an elemental spirit, able to understand simple instructions and programming in a single language chosen at the time of creation. It cannot speak. It speaks a crude pidgin language, which only Engineers can inexplicably understand.

A homonculus is a tiny, ugly little creature made of clay, wood, metal, and bits of things. It possess a vaguely humanoid form, with two legs, two arms, and a head with a face. It has 5 fingers on each hand, including an opposable thumb. It has tiny wings which, inexplicably, allow it to fly. It cannot fly higher than 50 ft off the ground, as its flight is mostly magical in nature.

Its strength is about 25% of a normal human's, in terms of applying force, lifting things, etc. It is as dexterous as a normal human. It has a slight evil streak, which comes out when it can find leeway in its orders.

The base for a golem's statistics is equal to the level of the engineer who crafted it. Under the command of an Artificer, a golem improves with training, and it is instead based on the Artificer's level.

Special-Purpose Homonculi

A homonculus' true versatility comes from specialization. Any homonculus can be crafted toward a special purpose. Once so crafted, the homonculus always retains the special traits, and cannot be reassigned.

Dedicated Wright

This homonculus is able to perform a certain Craft skill, with the same number of ranks as its creator. It's intelligence bonus is only +0, so it is likely limited to simple tasks, but it can still be very useful to a craftsman.

Pack Mule

This homonculus can carry a small sack, and is programmed with the Appraise skill. He can be instructed to carry gear, and to retrieve certain items and bring them to you. He is often used to automate the process of looting bodies after combat.

His sack holds, at most, 5 pounds of gear. However, he can be outfitted with a Bag of Holding (at the owner's expense) or other extradimensional storage.

  • Additional Market Value: 1 gp

Majordomo

This homonculus is capable of speech in up to 3 languages known to the creator. He is programmed for etiquette and protocol. He isn't incredibly ugly, by homonculus standards. Such homonculi are sometimes used to help cater to the needs of guests, or to serve as an answering service.

  • Additional Market Value: 1 gp

Test Dummy

This homonculus is meant for one purpose: guinea pig. It is larger than most homonculi (small, not tiny), and possesses no wings. It is particularly stupid, as homonculi go, and can master only the most basic of tasks. It has no programming ability, and only responds to the instructions of the master. It is, however, very cheap to make, and is often used to spring traps, lure enemies out of hiding, or just help wizards test out their new destructive spells.
