Basic Abilities
- From base race:
- Human: bonus human talent at level 1, bonus skill point per level.
- Elf: elven alertness, resistance to sleep and charm.
- Drow: darkvision, cloak of shadows.
- Etc: etc...
Automatic Special Abilities
- Restless: Shadowborn have no need to sleep.
- Shadowy Nature: Gain 50% resistance to shadow damage.
- Control Light: Swift, emanation 20; you decrease light levels by up to one category per rank. This is a magical effect, but is not considered "magical darkness", thus creatures with Darkvision can see through it. Categories:
- Sunlight
- Indoor light
- Dimness
- Darkness
- Gloom: You have an attribute called Gloom. It reflects how much you have tapped into your shadowy nature. By default, it is 0. You gain Gloom when you use your racial abilities. As your Gloom increases, you grow distant from the mortal world, and begin to feel that death and oblivion are inevitable, so why even bother living anymore...
- Shadow of Death: At-will, immediate, 1 round, sustain free; your form changes into that of a shadowy monstrosity. Each round you maintain this effect in a given encounter, you suffer 1 point of Gloom per round already sustained (thus: round 1 - 1, round 2 - 3, round 3 - 6, round 4 - 10, etc). You gain the following traits in demon form:
- Size: large
- +50% to all ability scores
- +50% to movement speed
- +50% resist (all except Arcane and Holy)
- Touch of Death: All contact with you is fatal. Living creatures who you strike in melee, or who strike you in melee, die instantly (Fort negates) and are absorbed into Oblivion. Those immune to death suffer 10% of their max hp in shadow damage instead.

- Shadow Image: Two uses:
- Dark Image: At-will, concentration; you create a figment as in Silent Image. Costs 1 Strain per 1 minute used.
- Mirror Image: Encounter, immediate, creates up to 1 image/level (max 5); you create copies of yourself as in Mirror Image. Costs 1 Strain per image created.
