Parry
Parry is a type of avoidance that allows you to completely deflect an enemy's attack.
For PCs, Parry is calculated as:
- Parry = 10 + Str bonus
- This can be modified by items, gems, enchants, and powers.
To use Parry, follow this process:
- When attacked, before you know the result of the attack, roll your Parry chance.
- On success, the attack is avoided entirely.
- After a successful Parry, you may attack the target immediately with the weapon that did the parrying. This is called a Riposte. You may not use a maneuver for this riposte, only a normal melee attack.
- On failure, the attack is suffered fully.
- On success, the attack is avoided entirely.
Parry may be used under the following conditions:
- The attack is not an area effect
- You are aware of the attacker
- The attack is coming from your forward arc
- You are armed with a Strength-based weapon
Since Dodge and Parry are both forms of avoidance, you may not attempt both against the same attack. You must choose only one per attack.
