Reserve
Quick and dirty:
- Reserve is a verb, not a noun.
- It is not a trait or attribute. Instead, it describes a process.
- Normally, you spend Mana, Focus, and Stamina. Once spent, they are gone for the day.
- You can also "reserve" these points. Thus, your total is reduced, but the whole time, you are gaining some sort of effect. When the effect ends, the points you reserved are returned to you.
- In some cases, a power might have a certain duration, whereafter the reserved points are gone for good.
- In others, the power might specify a reserve cost as well as a spending cost each time a certain event happens while the effect is reserved.
Example power: Barkskin
- At-will, swift, reserve; you reserve X points of Mana. Thereafter, when you suffer damage, you may choose to suffer the damage, or instead suffer 10% of your maximum Hit Points (not subject to further mitigation). Choosing the latter costs 1 Mana. If you spend X points of Mana in this way, the effect ends.
Example power: Swift Run
- At-will, free, reserve; you reserve X points of Mana, gaining +X to movement speed. If you sustain a full run for 1 minute, you expend 1 Mana.
