Rank 1
Powers
- Drain Soul: At-will, touch; heavy shadow damage plus 2 Con damage. Alternatively, medium range, medium shadow damage plus 1 Con damage. Either way, generated a Soul Shard, which serves one of several purposes:
- Fetish: you wear the shard as a non-slotted object, gaining +1 per Soul rank to any attribute. Expires after 24 hours. You may wear multiple fetishes, but they must each apply to a different attribute.
- Attunement: you use the shard as a spell focus, attuned to the subject. Subject suffers -10 to any Spell Resistance and -5 to any saves against your spells. Any Resist effects subject possesses are only half effective against you.
- Spell Tap: at the time of draining the soul, you drain one power from the subject. Can be a specific power you know the subject possesses, otherwise a randomly chosen one. You may use the power up to 3 times within 24 hrs, after which the shard crumbles and you cannot use it anymore.
- Healthstone: the shard becomes a Healthstone, which can be tapped as a swift action by anyone holding it to heal the holder for heavy damage.
- Soul Leap: You detach your soul from your body and transfer it into another living host. The host is aware of the intrusion, and if desired, can attempt an opposed Willpower check each round to force you out. While inside, you can sense what the host senses, but you lose all sense of your own body. You may communicate with the host through pure thought. You may use a phylactery of yourself as a host; it will not resist you, and could be secreted away on another's person without them being the wiser.
Rituals
- Soul Trap: You create a phylactery which serves as a repository for a soul, then bind it to a magic circle or other containing field. If a creature dies within that field, their soul is trapped in the phylactery. Rules TBD.
Feats
- Fetishist: When you create a Fetish of a specified attribute, you drain that attribute, instead of Con.
- Spell Thief: When you Spell Tap an enemy, the spell is not available to the target until you have expended the shard.
- Soul Burn: You can burn any Soul Shard to add 1d2+1 bonus Mana of metamagic to any spell you cast. You may also create generic Soul Shards with Drain Soul that have no use other than to be burned in this manner; when burned, they grant 1d3+2 bonus Mana.
Rank 2
Evolutions
- Drain Soul
- You may empower Drain Soul by spending 1 extra Mana per Soul rank above 1, adding 1 Con damage per Mana (separately from any Mana spent to empower the shadow damage).
- You can turn a shard into a Soulstone, which, when worn, is a ward against death. Should the wearer die, the stone immediately crumbles, absorbing up to 50 Wound Points or ability damage points in an effort to negate the attack that killed its wearer.
- Soul Leap
- You can take command of your host using Dominance.
Powers
- Harvest Soul: swift, medium range, 5 rounds; you extract subject's soul, trapping it within a focus or phylactery. Subject's body collapses helplessly. If immune to loss-of-control, they instead gain a debuff (-50% effectiveness, subject to scale resistance) for the duration, and you still gain the normal benefits below.
- While subject's soul is trapped, you may draw upon 1d4+1 points of Mana or Stamina from subject as a free action, max once/rd.
- You may use the trapped subject's powers as if they were your own.
- At the end of the duration, the subject's soul returns to its body, having suffered 1 point ability damage per point of Mana/Stamina you drew from the soul (divided equally).
Rank 3
Evolutions
- Drain Soul
- You can create a Soul Shard of yourself by casting the spell on yourself. You do not suffer heavy shadow damage, but you do suffer -1 Con. The normal uses apply, plus:
- Soul Proxy: an ephemereal Soul Shard which you can implant in a touched creature's soul, thereby serving as a proxy for Soul Leap, allowing you to use that power without your own body becoming helpless.
- more to come...
Rank ?
- Soulgaze: Gaze into subject's soul through the eyes. Learn stuff.
- Not sure if this should exist. Seems kind of redundant with Telepathy, and it isn't like Soul doesn't have other divinations.
